General
- Try to win the game as quickly as possible.
- Any cards you play can (and probably will) be used against you.
- Inexperienced players are often so preoccupied with whether or not they can play a card, they donβt stop to think if they should play it.
- Sometimes it can be beneficial to intentionally take the 3-card penalty.
- There are at least two reasons why you might want this:
- To get a specific card, if you think you can not win without it.
- To deplete the deck and end the game in a tie.
- There are at least two reasons why you might want this:
- It is sometimes possible to "trap" an opponent's card.
- For example: suppose you have Qβ₯Qβ₯Kβ£Kβ£Kβ¦Kβ¦Kβ Kβ in your hand, but you don't have Kβ₯.
- Any run that includes Kβ₯ would require a Qβ₯, and any set that includes Kβ₯ would require another K.
- So if your opponent has one of the two Kβ₯, they can never play it, so they can never win! (But they can still tie.)
- For example: suppose you have Qβ₯Qβ₯Kβ£Kβ£Kβ¦Kβ¦Kβ Kβ in your hand, but you don't have Kβ₯.
